September is really January in the fashion world (as it is mine). New school clothes are purchased and classes are planned (even if I am not going back to school!). My goals for the year ahead are set because old habits die hard and the timing is just right. September IS, and always has been, my New Year’s official start.
I love setting out my clothes and planning outfits. That’s something that almost never happens in summer! I live in the Pacific Northwest and the weather can be fairly unpredictable at this time of year. A smothering hot and humid day can be followed by warm rains and wind. How I’m dressed really depends on the day.
Warm-ish days and cool damp nights are the norm in September. Light layers are a must as it can climb to 20C or plummet to 8C once the sun sets.
No worries. By September I am ready for things to cool down a little. As I said in this post, I crave colour and fall texture after the blinding whites and brights of summer.
I also reintroduce boots into my routine on the regular. Don’t get me wrong, I occasionally wear boots in summer but most days it’s just too hot to do so. September and boots just seem to work better together. This year the major change is in ankle booties paired with a maxi. It feels fresh and fall simultaneously.
Dress – H & M (old); Boots (model’s own); Denim Jacket – (Mex old – similar here on Ebay); Bag – MICHAEL Michael Kors similar here; Belt – custom made for Judy by Donna Gran TFN; Ring – Thrifted; Choker – (old but they are everywhere this year).
I also love that this Fall brings with it dark and moody florals. The darker the better! I purchased this dress at H&M in Paris last October and by the time I arrived home later that month it was too far past the perfect season to pull it off. This year I am thrilled that it will see a full rotation in my wardrobe. Like I said, September is my New Year’s start and I’m starting with this stunner!
I’m curious. Does September and it’s New Year’s possibilities excite you as much as it does me?
