All About the Cowboy

Christy Jo March 9th, 2010 No Comments

We focus so much on ourselves, we sometimes forget about the Cowboys in our life.  Whether it’s deciding to buy that cute Coach purse instead of a Shotgun or a hot pair of jeans instead of replacing his worn out rags he wears everyday.  read more…

Out Of The Saddle Denim

To the general public, when talk of “cowboy” fashion comes up the automatic assumption is all cowboys wear Wrangler.  But men’s western fashion is following the same trail as the ladies, mainstream brands are crossing over to the west and western is crossing over to the mainstream. Denim is where you can really see that times are a changing.

I asked several cowboys I knew and they all agreed that some mainstream brands are definitely holding a firm place in their wardrobes. Further proof that the guys are just as savvy and fashionable as the cowgirls.

Cowboy Approved Looks From Cinch

admin November 10th, 2009 1 Comment

Fashion for men is a hot button issue around our place. They won’t admit it but the cowboy’s I deal with are savvy and well, picky when it comes to apparel. My husband is the biggest denim critic, men AND  women’s styles, you will ever meet.  Cut, durability, even wash is scrutinized when he shops. The true test comes when starched. If they don’t achieve that perfect crease or the fit isn’t quite right, the jeans are relegated to work  duty.

Button up shirts must also pass muster. The perfect fabric weight, classic cut, and a color thats eye catching but not garish.

Cinch is very much one of the leaders when it comes to men’s fashion and for good reasons. They pass the looking good, fitting good, and durability tests of the average cowboy.

Here are our picks for must haves from Cinch:

With so many great choices, there is no reason even the pickiest of cowboy can’t find the perfect fit for his style.

Keeping Warm Without The Bulk

admin November 2nd, 2009 1 Comment

As the days get cooler, we start pulling out the necessities for staying warm in the barn. Even with an indoor arena, its down right cold some days. And riding in a bulky coats is awkward, then of course you get too hot while working then chilled between horses.  So knowing that Michael was going to be really busy in the barn this winter, we decided to check out some different options other than his usual hooded sweatshirt and parka combo.

This year we are giving Under Armour a place in the winter wardrobe. Non-bulky alternatives utilizing moisture-wicking ColdGear® performance fabric, so you stay warm and dry. Of course my first thought was my husband clad in head to toe tight fitting spandex, looking like spider-man on horse back. (Come on you know the visual is HILARIOUS)

But the pieces we selected are really stylish and not super-hero like at all.  Here are my picks for Under Amour perfect for ranch life.

Cutting Edge Cool

One reason my husband so willingly does the laundry is because if my inability to check pockets. Seeing that Michael carries a knife with him at all times, the sound of clanking from inside the washer became almost deafening.

The issue with the knives is we have a million of them, think we lose them, and then open hay bales using the whole twine on twine trick to burn the strings off.  But I am thinking if maybe I purchased a really cool knife, it would be taken care of and not disappear into the vast abyss with the others. Luckily a reader, pointed me in the direction of a talented artist who creates some truly cool knives.

Edna Harper is silversmith and western artist who truly captures the cowboy spirit.

Here is an example of true craftsmanship.
