Fashion 911

When I was invited to guest blog at Western Glamour, I immediately thought of an old Vogue with a stunning Charlize Theron gracing the cover in…you guessed it…WESTERN WEAR! Charlize is the perfect mixture of totally glam but approachable style with a Southern twist…and these days, it seems the fashion world is clamoring for all things cowgirl too.

Recently, Givenchy debuted gilded cowgirl boots, Alessandro Dell’Acqua inspires with a fringed suede batik clutch, Gryphon showed an Native American-inspired black suede fringed coat…and just about everyone is mad for plaid!  While there is a plethora of options on what to wear, putting looks together while staying wardrobe malfunction-free can be tough. With a little magic using the fashion fixes from Bristols 6, I have put together a “How to Wear It” guide for all you cowgirl fashionistas looking for a quick solution for your style dilemmas.

DILEMMA #1: Paula Deen’s recipes got the best of you, and now your true blues are significantly snugger in the waist and uncomfortable.

DILEMMA #2: Your New Year’s resolution was to drop a few pounds. You’re now in-between jean sizes but don’t want to wrangle up some extra dinero for a new pair.

SOLUTION: Adjust-A-Button for Denim, $18

WHY IT WORKS: Breath a sigh of relief and relax – this pin-style instant button for jeans gives you the perfect fit in a matter of seconds. Extending or reducing waistbands up to 1.5” is as easy as inserting a pin – when wearing your jeans, look down and place the Adjust-A-Button to the left of the original button to extend and the right to tighten. The best part? The Adjust-A-Button is totally removable and reusable, so you can endlessly tweak your jeans as needed!

DILEMMA: Your fave pair of jeans are just right for heels, but there are inches of extra fabric that you trip over in flats and the hem still drags even when rolled up.

SOLUTION: Hem Tape for Denim, $12

WHY IT WORKS: Hem Tape for Denim is the first durable double-stick tape, specially designed for denim fabric, to alter the length of jeans quickly and easily. Whether skinny, straight, boot-cut or flared, just peel and stick for a strong and durable hold. Wear newly purchased supermodel length jeans in an instant. Avoid a permanent cut and switch the length on one pair to wear with heels and flats. You can also use it to cuff, crop or shorten dress pants, shorts, and skirts.

DILEMMA #1: With all the layering going on – bras, camis, and tees – you look like the victim of a strap attack.

DILEMMA #2: Going braless just isn’t an option, but that backless/strapless/halter top begs for coverage.

SOLUTION: Nippies Natural, $24; Nippies Basics, $10; Nippies, $15

WHY IT WORKS: Get a strap-free and smooth silhouette with nipple covers. Opt for a thin and matte tapered silicone Nippies Natural under sheer or white tops. Add some bling with Nippies, fabric nipple covers that are great for covering up under cocktail dresses and nights out. Satin and lace Nippies Basics stretch and form to curves, so you can get subtle coverage that still looks pretty – no unsightly or wrinkly breast petals here! The best thing? Silicone and fabric Nippies are waterproof…wear them at the beach for added coverage!

DILEMMA: Seeing your best girl friend having repeat wardrobe malfunctions is like a guy getting trampled at a rodeo – painful and hard to watch. She needs a quick fix to keep her wayward clothes in place.

SOLUTION: Stylin’ Tape, $10

WHY IT WORKS: Stylin’ Tape is a double stick clothing & body tape in three exclusive pre-cut widths. Skin-safe adhesive strips secure necklines, slipping shoulder straps, closes blouse gaps, and holds up strapless bras and dresses. Plus, it won’t pucker or damage fabric like safety pins.

Happy Styling!
