Blissful Blooms

april09-287

The other day my sweet son picked a dandelion for me and proudly placed it my hand, the moment was perfect, reminding me that mom’s see little things as big accomplishments. My own mother to this day see’s my little acccomplishments as monumental.  A simple bloom can brighten Mom’s day, something so easy and simple to do. So with Mother’s day approaching, I was chosen to create a “Mom is Tops Topiary” the only issue is…..

I am the anti-craft! I am devoid completely of that gene that allows you to create fabulous crafts of any kind that inspire ooohs and ahhs! In fact my past attempts usually inspire hysterical laughter. On top of that missing gene, is the lack of the one that allows me to keep any plant alive. So when I was approached to participate in a “Mommy wants Mother’s day flowers” project, bets started flying whether or not it would be at all visually appealing.

So d-day arrived, I opened my package to find everything I needed for a pretty floral arrangement. Beautiful blooms, mug to hold arrangement, floral foam, ribbon, and the “recipe” for the arrangement.

Cue dramatic music

I literally was so easy to do I was able to talk on the phone the whole time. But the touch task was ahead, putting my personal twist on this arrangement.

To put a haute cowgirl twist on things, I put the mug and arrangement in a clay pot, surrounded it all with stones, added moss and some cool green crystals, and for the finishing touch………………………….

Spurs for a cowgirl touch

ooohhh ahhh, I know your impressed!

I will say having the fresh flowers on my counter force me to stop and enjoy the moment a little more. The bright cheery color alone is enough to make you smile.  This arrangement will be gracing our table for the Mother’s Day brunch in our home.

Thankyou to Columbia-Land of flowers for these blissful blooms!

Stay Pretty
